COVID-19 Information for the hospitality sector

Work is underway across all levels of Government is response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

To ensure the safety of the community, and our staff, face-to-face services at our Customer Service Centre will cease until further notice. You can still reach us by calling 131 882 between 9am and 4.30pm Monday-Friday.

Details of initiatives that may impact on liquor licence holders, as well as initiatives announced by the Government of South Australia to support the sector during this time can be found here. 


  • Lifting step 2 restrictions - Licensed premises, including pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants and wineries can now apply for a short-term licence to temporarily expand their licensed footprint.

  • Waiving fees - The government will waive annual liquor licensing fees for 2020-21 for a number of liquor licence categories.

  • Takeaway liquor - The government has agreed to provide free short-term licences to some licensees to allow for the sale of takeaway liquor. 

  • Updates to short-term liquor licences - The government has agreed to provide free short-term licences to licensees operating a small bar, cafe, restaurant or community club to allow for the sale of takeaway liquor. 

  • Restrictions on indoor gatherings - As of 22 May, some restrictions have been eased in relation to indoor gatherings at cafes, pubs and restaurants.

  • Lottery / Bingo providers have been granted a 6 month extension to provide relevant financial statements. 
  • Trading Round cancelled for 23 March - Details about the cancellation of the scheduled trading round.
